The private events market has changed profoundly over the past five years. Client expectations have evolved, technologies have opened new possibilities, and international competition has raised the benchmark. What was a competitive differentiator in 2019 has become, in 2026, a prerequisite for market access.

The Sinaptic Digital Thermometer, in the analysis conducted for WIM Insights 2026, identifies seven standards that today define the minimum level expected by the most evolved clientele — not only in the luxury segment, but progressively across all premium tiers.

Standard 1: Identity Before Format

The market no longer buys formats. It buys identities.

A wedding planner proposing "the classic villa wedding" is interchangeable with dozens of others. A wedding planner proposing to build an event that tells the specific story of this couple — the places that matter to them, the people who count, the values they want to celebrate — is irreplicable.

This standard requires a deep shift in the working process: don't start from the format (the ceremony-cocktail-dinner sequence) but from the client (who you are, what this event means to you, what you want to live in your guests' memory). The format comes after, as a tool for expressing identity.

Standard 2: Experience and Emotion at the Center

The market no longer buys technical quality. It buys emotional impact.

Technically excellent food that doesn't create a moment — isn't enough. A visually perfect floral arrangement that doesn't tell a story — isn't enough. A technically brilliant photographer who can't capture authentic emotion — isn't enough.

This standard requires that every supplier in the chain ask not only "did I execute my job well technically?" but "did I help create an unforgettable emotion?" The answer to the second question is much harder than the first — and much more important.

Standard 3: The Narrative Dimension

An event doesn't only exist on the day it takes place. It exists before — in anticipation, in shared expectation — and after — in memories, in photos, in the stories guests tell in the months that follow.

The narrative design of the event — thinking of the experience as a story with a beginning, a development, and a finale — has become an expected standard. The welcome gift that tells the territory's story. The menu that introduces each course like a chapter. The surprise moment in the middle of the reception. The soundtrack designed like the score of a film.

The digital dimension is an integral part of the narrative: the event designed to be lived and photographed, the content guests will share on social media, the wedding video built like a short film. It isn't about doing the event for Instagram — it's about understanding that the digital story is part of the value the client buys.

Standard 4: Speed and Efficiency

Slow response is perceived as incompetence.

In international markets — particularly North American and Anglo-Saxon — there is a very specific response expectation: a first reply within 4-8 hours of an inquiry, a structured quote within 48-72 hours, a shared project timeline within the first week.

This isn't a whim — it reflects a working culture in which respect for the other person's time is a fundamental value. A client who doesn't receive a response within 48 hours doesn't wait — they go to someone else. And often they don't tell you — they simply disappear.

Standard 5: Personalization as a Prerequisite

Personalization is no longer a luxury extra. Even in lower premium tiers, clients expect a solution built for them — not a standard package with their name written on top.

What this means in practice: the quote that references the specific details of the request (not a generic template). The proposal that demonstrates an understanding of the client's style, needs, and context. The communication that treats the client as a specific person, not as a category.

Standard 6: Commercial Clarity and Transparency

Hidden costs, undisclosed commissions, ambiguous contractual clauses — these have become immediate red flags for any mid-to-high tier client.

Commercial clarity includes: detailed quotes with every item itemized, transparency on commission relationships between organizers and suppliers (when they exist), clear contracts on payments, cancellations, and modifications. It isn't only an ethical question — it's a signal of professionalism that builds trust.

Standard 7: Clear Distinction of Roles in the Supply Chain

The end client already struggles to understand who does what in the private events industry. Organizers, venues, suppliers, travel agencies, concierges — the map is already complex.

The emerging standard — particularly relevant for relationships within the supply chain — is the clear distinction between those entitled to narrate destinations (institutions, tourism boards) and those who are operational players tasked with converting demand. When these roles blur, the client gets lost — and the damage often falls on the entire supply chain.
